Life’s Too Short to Drink Bad Wine.
I recently experienced a Cellar Door tour of a ‘few’ vineyards in Australia’s oldest and best-known wine region, the Hunter Valley.
Lindemans Winery.
Oakvale Winery.
The Hunter Valley Wine Country is just over 2 hours from Sydney, after exiting the main freeway to Newcastle, you continue on the winding road, which formed part of The Convict Trail towards Cessnock and wine growing country.
Morning coffee stop.....
Wollombi.
Wollombi
Perhaps because it was Xmas Eve, but at all the wineries we visited the staff bent over backwards to ensure we made the ‘most’ of our visit.
Vineyards.
Vinyards.
Wine in solid form!
There’s a whole world to explore in the Hunter Valley, with something for everyone. Following the wine trail, we soon discovered superb local produce and first class cuisine. Award winning cheeses were a fine distraction to the many glasses of varied wine being sampled. At each tasting we would join the cellarmaster for an intimate, structured tasting of rare vintage wines sourced locally from private cellars.
Old store.
Oh not not another tasting!
Old vineyard equipment.
The Hunter Valley has grown up as a wine growing region and is now a stylish sanctuary of wine and experience. From championship golf course and hot air ballooning the Hunter Valley now boasts several luxury spa hotels making it a popular destination for weddings. The Hunter Valley is also the pick of the regions when it comes to outdoor music and wine festivals, events and concerts. Attracting local and international superstars.
The Hunter Valley is well worth considering as an alternative holiday destination, the accommodation on offer ranges from rustic elegance through to luxury.
